I just racked it into my glass carboy & attached the air-lock and the bung. Unfortunately, I don’t have any bubbles coming up through the airlock. How could there not be any carbon dioxide (I think) coming out? Is this going to have a huge impact on my wine?
Any input is appreciated.

Cynthia

Anyway I don’t have my 2 gallon bucket anymore & my friend gave me some home grown Concords that I will make wine with. Don’t have time to get a 2 gallon bucket! I am a Ale brewer & have several new 5 gallon primary buckets. Can I primary ferment a 1 gallon batch in these or is it too much airspace to the top of a 5 gallon? This is meant for both fresh fruit or frozen juice.

Tammy

asked:

I am making a white wine that has a susse-reserve packet in it. This was supposed to be added at the time of clearing in the secondary. I misread the instructions and added it on day one in the primary. My wine is still in the primary and has reached SG of 1.03. I am unsure if I should rack normally because it seems I need the susse-reserve thickness as part of the clearing process. Of course there’s no way I can get it back now. Should I add some sort of fruit puree at the time it calls for the susse-reserve? or is it best to just proceed as normal and hope for the best. Thank you in advance.

Jack

obiwandog asked:

Hi. I want to buy the right tools for the job. I have a bad habit of buying cheap and regretting it or buying part and then having to go back to the store 12 times. I could really use some help and recommendations on the features I needs in these tools.

I want to purchase an air compressor and some nailers. I ruled out the cordless due to cost and some future automotive ideas that will require a compressor (but I digress). The jobs I have in mind include:
Building wine racks
Re-attaching millwork – removed to run wires behind it, etc.
Adding trim or nailing weather strips to door frames

Basically, I need it for handyman and minor carpentry projects not major construction. I want decent speed, but mainly the ability to do things right – nice clean work as opposed to hammer divets, screw heads to be covered, etc.

Can you help by telling me what features I should look for and recommend a minimum set of requirements? Brands to avoid would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Agnes

asked:

I just started my wine yesterday and I’m not sure on when to rack it. Do I wait until fermentation stops completely? Until it slows down? Do I just wait a week or 2 weeks regardless of the rate of fermentation?

Then what is the best height to keep the siphon tube at as to not disturb the sediment on the bottom? I’m using a food grade plastic container so I can’t see how much sediment is on the bottom.

Last thing. So after I rack it, will it start fermenting again or do I need to pitch more yeast. And if it does start back up, how long will it take for me to see that it is fermenting properly? A few minutes and hour? A day?

Just any tips and advice is more than welcome. Thanks
And please don’t just answer my questions with a link to a website. I can just about guarantee there is nothing on the Internet that is helpful to me that I have not read yet.

Theodore
