Can you add spritis to home made before bottling it?
Filed Under wine racks | Comments Off
Suzanne M asked:
I am making a 6 gallon batch of Riesling wine at home. It is in the final stage of clearing, and the alcohol content is approx. 10%. Just before racking into the bottles, is it safe to add a nice vodka to the batch to increase the alcohol content? Would this effect the wine in any manner that would make it unsafe to drink after it is aged?

how to rack wine and avoid oxydation?

jason_fly asked:
I have been offered an unique opportunity in a french vineyard .Besides my interest into winetasting , I have read quite a bit on the winemaking process and because the winemaker has been a bit impressed by my knowledge of the process , especially the glossary , he has quickly given me a lot of space . I m supposed to rack the wine tomorrow , I have a doubt and I can’t afford to ask the winemaker without losing face . I know it s plain stupid but to avoid oxydation how I am supposed to put the tube into the vat ? is it supposed to always be in contact with the liquid or on the contrary be in the air ?

how do I make my home made wine stronger?
Filed Under wine racks | Comments Off
fido69r asked:
I made 5 gallons of Blackberry and apple wine, and let it ferment out for 3 weeks until it ceased. I then racked it and tested the strength, which is 9.5% alcohol. I wish to increase this to 13% at least. How do I do this, and what do I add to the wine.
I need to know how much sugar…..and yeast to add

i dont’t remember much about it, but I saw it once on the internet and can’t find it agian and was hoping to share with friends. It cost 425,000$, and from the outside it didn;t look too special. But the back seats reclined, the sun roof changed colors to your liking, and there was like a wine rack in the back. I know it’s not the best description but id be very grateful for soe help.

Can I Drink Mead (or fruit wine) without Racking?
Filed Under wine racks | Comments Off
Joe Cool asked:
I’m currently fermenting a really simple wine made from agave nectar. Fermenting is supposed to take only 2-3 weeks, after which I’m supposed to “rack” the wine, or leave it to sit for months. Can I drink the wine before racking? Is it safe? Does it still have an alcohol content?
Bottom Line: Is the wine safe (and alcoholic) after fermenting for 3 weeks, with no racking time.
Jackie

What is an optimal color to paint a wine cellar?

Anthony S asked:
I have a closet on a lower level that I want to paint. Right now it’s white. And because the temperature is right and it is void of sunlight I want to put a wine rack in there and build a cellar. What color should I paint it? I’m thinking dark red or purple, but what do you think?

It is burping every second or two. You can see ALOT of tiny bubbles traveling from the bottom to the top of the jug! What is going on? Do I have rocket fuel in the making?
LOL!! It was exciting until my wine started to look like it was boiling! It is strawberry. You can’t smell wine at all. It has been “cooking” for about 9 days now. I used the canned strawberries from my wine making store. They told me the fermenting would slow way down once it was in the secondary fermenter. It is working overtime now!
