what brand of wine should i get?
Filed Under wine racks | Comments Off
elle asked:
My sister-in-law is getting married in april and on her registry she has a wine rack. I want to buy her that along with a wine. I dont drink wine so I dont know much about it. I asked my friend’s mom who works in fine dining and she said to get a white merlot because it is like a red but lighter. What brand of white merlot should I get? I want to get her a good gift so I dont really want to get a brand that is sold in Walmart. any ideas?

I am noticing women posting random statuses on Facebook, “in the laundry room”, “against the wine rack”, “on the stairs”, etc. Any idea what it is about?

Can I put an iron wine bottle rack with glass outside the house?
Filed Under wine racks | Comments Off
It’s me! asked:
A while back, I bought a beautiful iron bottle rack wine bar holder at an auction at a very high end furniture store. I think it is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet in height and about 3 1/2 in length. Its all in black and has beautiful grapes and leaves but all in iron. A glass sits on top of the rack for wine glasses. It just does not match the inside of our NEW house. I was thinking about taking it out side under a wood porch. I will REALLY match the black patio table. I just don’t know if it will rust and wonder if I should pray it with some kind of protection. Any suggestions?

Is it possible to save homemade wine that did not process?
Filed Under wine racks | Comments Off
Baby Boy asked:
I’ve asked this question but perhaps I was not clear. I found, when I went to rack a batch of homemade wine, that the must did not process, (ferment), as I saw the airlock was pinched shut. I want to know if I can reactivate and save it.

When can/should I sweeten my wine?
Filed Under wine racks | Comments Off
What’choo lookin’ at? asked:
Ok, so over the weekend I racked some wine that I have going. This is my first attempt and I need some advice. I have 5 gallons of peach wine in a carboy that has finished fementing and is in a holding stage and this racking was after 3 months. I also have 2 gallon jugs of pear wine that just came out of the primary and is still bubbling a bit in the airlock. The pear tastes nice and sweet, but the peach isn’t as sweet as I would like. Should I sweeten the peach a bit now, or wait another 3 months and sweeten part of it before I bottle it with the other part being a little on the dry side?
