Smitty asked:

I am making wine for the first time. I bought a complete kit, juice, etc. I followed the directions to a tee. I just racked it into my glass carboy & attached the air-lock and the bung. Unfortunately, I don’t have any bubbles coming up through the airlock. How could there not be any carbon dioxide (I think) coming out? Is this going to have a huge impact on my wine?
Any input is appreciated.

Michael

Joshica M asked:

I am decorating my kitchen with a itiliano/olive garden feel. I want cooking wine, small wine racks, exotic olive oils, lots of earthy tones like olive green, cream, and sand. I want to know some great ideas for my theme. I also wanted all the countertop appliances and such to be olive green b/c that is my base color. Kitchen-Aid used to have a olive green color in their set of hand mixers, blenders, toaster, and microwaves, which is, of course, now that I want it, gone. Where can I find three things: great decorating tips and tricks for the kitchen (theme in mind or general), where can I find olive green appliances (no fridge, stove, or freezers countertop appliances and accessories only), and where can I get theme specific ideas or help? Any help would be so appreciated as I want the kitchen done before we renew our vows :)

Am trying to monitor the temperature and humidity in a closet that I think can be used as a wine cellar. Before investing in customized wine racks I want to monitor whether the closet (in the basement) is suitable for long term storage of all kinds of wine. Can anyone recommend a decent wine thermometer? I believe humidity is also a key factor so any gadget that measures both would be ideal.

Don Y asked:

His most recent conviction was over 30 years ago, and he’s lived a clean, productive life since then; he’s almost 30 years sober; he’s an active member of his church; he serves on the board of community organizations; and he does lots and lots of other volunteer work.

During his fairly brief criminal career he racked up far too many felony convictions to go the expungement route, but he would like to buy or open a small restaurant where he could also serve beer and wine.

Is there any state where he can do this?

My kitchen and dining room are open to each other and the walls are a mellow orange the paint was toasted coconut. I wanted to do a vintage mexican theme, I was inspired by a wrought iron rustic looking wine rack we have that looks really good next to the orange. But now I am stuck, mainly on wall decor… help! anyone have a fabulous idea?

AJ21 asked:

I have recently started enjoying red wine :)
I went to a restaurant the other day (a very nice one) with my GF and ordered a relatively expensive red. £30

The taste could only be descried as terrible, I couldn’t drink it, it was so strong (acidic) tasting but tasted of nothing at the same time. I asked the waiter to taste it as my GF found it fine to drink??? He said it was ok????

But im sure that wasn’t right? Was it corked or am I sensitive to strong tasting red wine? Ive looked up the different ways of telling corked wine but cant put my finger on them or compare it to that taste.

I’ve never tasted any other red like it until I was giving a rack of wine that had been sitting in a house. started with a 99 Merlot which was delightful then another a couple of days later roughly the same age (cant remember what it was) and it was awful tasted just like the wine in the restaurant.

Can anyone advise a soft, smooth but flavour sum wine for me to enjoy.

Thanks

Lloyd
